Frequently Asked Questions
Our process combines advanced manufacturing for perfect alignment with a human touch to ensure the highest quality standards.
Kobura holsters feature a modular design consisting of front and back plates. The multi-layer lamination process creates a holster that is exceptionally rigid, durable, highly customizable, and aesthetically unique.
The Back Plate-constructed from three layers of Kydex.
The Front Plate is available in two distinct configurations:
- Constructed with three layers of Kydex.
- Dual-layer Kydex construction with a premium leather overlay.
Leather-front pieces are hand-stitched, ensuring artisan craftsmanship and heirloom longevity.
We carefully select our materials to achieve a perfect mix of substance and elegance.
Most of our Kydex color variations are sourced in either 0.06” or 0.08” sheets. Because of a multi-layer lamination process, the overall wall thickness of your holster ranges from 0.18” to 0.24”.
Our modular approach isn't just about strength-it is about style. The design allows you to easily swap front plates, giving you the freedom to customize your carry and showcase your entire Kobura collection depending on your attire or mood.
Our holsters are engineered to accommodate most popular pistol platforms commonly used in the practical pistol shooting community. We currently offer two main variants: the 2011 style and the CZ Shadow 2 style. We plan to expand our range in the future based on customer feedback.
2011 Style Holster:
Designed to fit most 2011-style pistols with barrel lengths under 5", this holster does not support models equipped with thumb rests. Through extensive testing, we've found that the primary variation among 2011 pistols is their width. The Kobura’s modular design allows for a precision-tuned fit through simple mounting screw adjustments.
CZ Shadow 2 Style Holster:
Designed for CZ Shadow 2 and similar CZ-style pistols with barrel lengths under 5", this holster is also subject to width variations. It does not support models equipped with thumb rests. As with the 2011 style, our modular design allows for a precision-tuned fit through simple mounting screw adjustments.

To ensure your Kobura holster maintains its functionality and aesthetic appeal for years to come, we recommend a simple maintenance routine.
Maintaining the Leather Front
The leather on your Kobura holster is a premium natural material that develops a unique patina over time.
- Cleaning: Gently wipe away dust or dirt with a soft, slightly damp cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive scrubbers.
- Conditioning: Occasionally apply a high-quality leather conditioner or cream to keep the leather supple and prevent cracking. Use a small amount and buff it gently. It is no different than taking care of your leather shoes.
- Water Exposure: While treated for durability, leather is not waterproof. If your holster gets wet, wipe off excess water immediately and allow it to air dry at room temperature. Never use a hair dryer or heat gun, as high heat can damage both the leather and the Kydex.
Kydex & Hardware Care
- Kydex Surfaces: The Kydex back plate and internal layers can be wiped down with a damp cloth or mild soapy water to remove debris. Ensure the interior is free of dust or grit to protect your firearm’s finish.
- Hardware Checks: Since our modular design allows for plate swapping, it is important to periodically check that all screws and retention hardware are tight and secure. If you do not plan on swapping plates frequently, we recommend applying a drop of non-permanent thread locker to the screws to prevent them from backing out during daily use.
Please see our fit guide for details.
There is an option to integrate magnets into the back plates to elevate the sensory experience of the draw and re-holster. To be clear, this is not a retention mechanism, mechanical precision handles that. Instead, the magnets provide a subtle, tactile pull that perfectly seats the firearm. This eliminates micro-play and gives the entire system a more refined, "solid-state" feel.
If you decide it’s not for you, the magnet is easily removable.
Designed for customization, inlays are held in place with high-bond tape and feature a discreet access hole for removal. Should you prefer a fixed, permanent application, the inlay may be secured with your choice of adhesive.
The inlays can be purchased separately.
